Emergency Trauma Care (ETC)

The ETC training course focuses on providing emergency prehospital trauma care to those who have suffered major trauma involving blunt force trauma and penetrating wounds.  The course is designed for those with all backgrounds of medical training from a basic understanding to those who want to refresh and update their knowledge and skills. ETC follows the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care guidelines and those who successfully complete the course will earn a TECC certificate valid for two years.

Course topics include:

  • Awareness
  • Rapid assessment
  • Equipment familiarization and uses
  • Recognition of massive hemorrhage
  • The body’s response to trauma
  • Treatment for blunt and penetrating injuries

 

The course involves lectures, video, slides and hands-on practice.  The instructors are active paramedics with over 40 years of combined experience in the field and instruction.

 

Course Length: 8 hours

Enrollment: Law Enforcement, Military, Security, Fire & EMS, and Civilians

Pre-Requisites: None. ETC allows the certificate holder to participate in the Scenario Training Day.
