What Is Crossheart Medical Training?
Crossheart Medical Training is a local, small business based in the Portland, Oregon area that is dedicated to providing the most up to date medical training that caters to the student’s needs. We offer CPR, AED and First-Aid classroom and online training options that provide lessons via video and hands on experiences.
Our instructors are active and retired emergency medical professionals that have a heart for the community that we live in.
Meet The Instructors
Sean Brown
After serving in the fire service as a firefighter/paramedic for 35 years, Sean is now working as a flight medic for Life Flight Network. He grew up in a small town located outside Portland, Oregon and from a young age he knew he wanted to become a firefighter and strived toward that goal throughout high school and college. Having graduated with a Fire Science Degree, he began his education in paramedicine and became a paramedic in 1994.
Sean also served as a SWAT medic from 2013 to 2020 for Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deploying and training with the team. He enjoys serving and is excited to pass his knowledge and experience through the classes he is teaching. Sean specializes in teaching massive hemorrhage control using tourniquets, pressure dressings and wound packing.
Jed Wachlin
Jed was born in rural Wisconsin, and traveled to the west coast for his education. He was active in high school as the student body president, and captain of the football team. He received an Associates Degree in Fire Science, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Fire Service Administration. Jed has over 25 years of experience as a career officer in the fire service, working in the second largest fire district in the state of Oregon.
He has three grown children, and followed his parents teaching path, instructing medical and safety classes for the past three decades. Jed is an avid woodworker and has volunteered his time with numerous local and national non-profit agencies, including Medical Teams Northwest, Global Mission Readiness, and Habitat for Humanity. He is active in his local church, building homes in Mexico on a regular basis. Jed is an amateur illusionist, and uses his skills to convey the principles of CPR. to individuals and groups. His passion is to share his experience and convey hope to communities everywhere.
Ethan Brown
Ethan grew up around the fire service and began his career right out of high school. After completing his college degree in fire science and a student internship with Crooked River Ranch Fire District, he was offered a job and in Umatilla Rural Fire District. After two years of service, he decided to move closer to home in the Willamette Valley where he grew up. Ethan is now a career Corvallis Firefighter and one of our experienced instructors.
Lauren Brown
While still attending college, Lauren started her dispatching career in 2020 and is currently employed with Columbia County 911 Dispatching services. Lauren became interested in helping others learn life-saving skills while she was employed as a dispatcher. She realized the need for public interaction and the ability for laypersons to make a difference while higher level of care was being sent.
